"Portrait of Amy Winehouse" - oil on canvas 36" x 48" | Coulter Young's portrait of Amy Winehouse will be featured in a group show entitled, "RED," at the Front Street Gallery in Patterson, NY now through March 27, 2015. "RED is a power color, it symbolizes a strong and powerful message. It signifies a pioneering spirit and leadership qualities, ambition and determination. In Eastern cultures, red is the color of good luck. In India it symbolizes purity and is often used in wedding gowns. Red is associated with deities in Shinto and Buddhist traditions. Statues of gods are decked in red clothing or painted red. According to Japanese folk beliefs, red is the color for expelling demons and illness. In many cultures it represents romantic love, as on Valentine's Day. It stimulates the deeper passions within us, such as sex, courage, hatred or revenge. It excites our emotions and inspires us to take action. Most flags contain the color red which often represents courage, revolution, or blood." ~ Front Street Gallery Opening Reception: Sunday, February 15, 2015 10am - 2pm Gallery hours: Wednesday - Friday: 11am - 3pm Saturday - Sunday: 10am - 2pm Front Street Gallery is located at 21 Front Street, Patterson, NY 12563 (across from the Metro North Railroad Station.) |
